Florida Horror Filmmakers Make Their ‘Death Cast’

Two native Floridian filmmakers are adding their horror signatures to the list with a new film called Death Cast.

In it, six young and hopeful actors are cast in a horror film that shifts from a scripted experience to a life-threatening reality. Death Cast producer Melissa McNerney said working in her home state was nothing short of incredible especially from an artistic standpoint.

Melissa joins the Dream It, Plan It, Do It Panel at DIFF 2019

I was in great company last weekend at the inaugural Dunedin International Film Festival! Joined by Actress/Writer/Producer/Director Mary Rachel Dudley, Writer/Director/Producer Stefanie Davis, and moderated by Artist/Writer/Director/Producer Victoria Jorgensen, we shared our collective insights and experiences on producing films in the Tampa Bay area. The panel, titled Women In Film: Dream It, Plan, It, Do It, was well attended by festival goers eager to hear more about what it takes to execute a film from inception to distribution. It was an honor to share the stage and hear the wisdom from my fellow filmmakers.

Feature Film Finishing Grant from WIFT Florida!

At the 2018 Jingle Mingle, hosted by Women in Film and Television Florida, I received the 2018 Feature Film Finishing Fund grant from WIFT! This generous grant is designed for members of WIFT who are in the post production stage and who have employed women in at least 3 key positions on their production. Well I can assure you, we surpassed that number by a lot!

"Human Variations" by Blueprint Theater

“The ensemble is comprised of a talented and young cast of actors from Marymount: Kyla Deichl, Molly Groome, Nick Hepsoe, Cole Johnston, Sarah King, Jillian Mason, Melissa McNerney and Zac Walker. The feelings of loneliness give the piece the mood of an Edward Hopper painting come to life. painting. The whole events makes for an evening of theatre where you want to take a long walk down the streets of Manhattan to think and feel. Somehow it feels inappropriate to say a piece about loneliness and loss is ‘fun’ or exciting. Human Variations is a rich work of art that blends many different fields.” — Aurin Squire, New York Theatre Review

"Largo" by Blueprint Theater

"Captivating. It draws you in to the interiors of these people. Well-choreographed and beautiful to watch. Fully developed characters executed by tremendously talented actors. Very cleverly written." — Jen Sanko

"Through dialogue, movement, lighting changes and soliloquy we discover six individuals looking for love in all the wrong places and people, their desperation keen, driving them to reckless boldness." — Ana Valle, New York Theatre Review

"Scherzo" by Blueprint Theater

“Glorious moments of beauty and fantasy … beautiful and fleeting … an absolute joy … the cast is fantastic. Scherzo is refreshing theater. The mix of expressionism, dance, and realism going on in this show pulled me into their world and I really enjoyed it. I could have stayed considerably longer. I intend on checking out the next part of this series and I recommend you do too. If it’s anything like their pilot episode then it’s certainly worth it.” — Richard Hinojosa, nytheatre.com
